It's been a heavy week as the weather continues to transition - the air feels physically heavier. Maybe you feel that in your life as well - maybe there are big happenings, or maybe small things feel heavier. There may be a tendency to want to numb out. It's not just you. In today's podcast, I wanted to review some basics to help you align mind and body.0:00Intro3:30Notice your breathing4:55Notice your thoughts and emotions - does anything trigger you?6:00Notice where you feel it in your body7:25Then breathe into that area9:02Notice all your senses10:04Notice your feet11:00Notice your movement - moving meditation12:53Notice your breath and movement together15:07Ask to attune to the consciousness of God/Source/the Universe20:06Get help if needed

This week I’ve been noticing a lot of what I call “worry grief” in people - it’s this nervous anticipation of the future and a missing of what was. That missing can be different for different people - perhaps you look at your past as a beautiful time. Or maybe it was a difficult and exhausting time for you, so beautiful in a different way because somehow you made it through. Here, I’ll share with you my recent experience with mushroom foraging and what I learned from it in terms of new perspectives and addressing the worry grief.0:00Introduction1:30 What worry-grief feels like in the body4:22We are all connected - just like the mycelium5:50How can you see yourself in your fellow being?6:13What triggers the worry grief is where the healing is7:46No need to control by over-helping9:07There is so much transient beauty13:23There is beauty in all seasons14:19We are in a mushroom time - time of REBIRTH14:34Rebirth can feel like griefIf this video helped you in some way, show some love by clicking the thumbs up and subscribe. And leave a comment to let me know where you're watching from. This September, there seems to be a fog in the air. I've seen so many people lately concerned about being in a brain fog for various reasons. When you're in a fog, you can feel spacey, it can take more energy to think, you feel easily distracted, and it takes longer to do regular things. It's like your brain is glitching. In this video, I talk about things that can contribute to brain fog and ways to lift it.0:00Introduction0:38What is brain fog?1:34What causes brain fog?2:16Blood sugar fluctuations4:53Nutritional deficiencies6:38Dehydration8:14Clearing toxins10:11Need more sleep11:11Medications12:10Hormonal changes13:30 Post-concussion14:39COVID-1916:14Mind-body-spirit16:48A way of numbing - what do you want to deal with? 19:13What kind of “should” box have you created for yourself?20:35Balance21:36Avoid multi-tasking - be mindful22:47Try new things! As the kids go back to school during another pandemic year, I wanted to replay this amazing video with Sara Fenske Bahat, who is the chair of Design MBA at CA College of the Arts. I love her spirit and how she's combined the financial smarts with a do-good mindset and reverence of the arts. We'll dive into more on the topic of STEAM in education as well. One of my favorite parts is the art of critique, which is a way of getting and giving feedback with honor and respect. It's only been a year and a half since I started podcasting just before the pandemic. This video was early on and I had some tech difficulties with my mic. Looking back now, I'm amazed at how many videos I've done - inspired by all of you watching! Thanks for being here. I'll be back live next week!00:25 - Background01:10 - An expansive view of "what is art" and "what is design"03:00 - More on the "reflective work on the walls"03:33 - Why do we need both art and STEM (science, technology, engineering, math)? STEM + Art = STEAM07:49 - Having your own practice, own space09:36 - Business people who wanted to be more creative and artists that want to learn about businessTake a look at spiritual coach Sharron Ragan's chat in Day 4, where she talks about coaching businesses.*11:19 - The practice of critique, a set of specific steps that puts the creator into the driving seat of how to get feedback. Critical Response Process by Liz Lerman13:58 - Bringing this practice into the board room transforms business, facilitates communication and mutual respect. 18:15 - Success stories21:55 - How students at Design MBA have a personal journey of transformation, becoming more comfortable with themselves23:25 - Flourishing with your own skills, talents, and perspectives shifts relationships to have additive rather than competitive relationships25:33 - What do you think we could do to create a society that supports artists? Eg, YBCA / Culture Bank and collaboration with Federal ReserveAlso check out artist and psychiatrist Dr. Hisla Bates interview on Day 7 on art and societal values. 30:34 - Art in communities that need healing31:30 - Starting as a fellow at YBCA to explore the topic of "how do we design freedom" and how it inspired me34:46 - Lots of small ways to incorporate more art into your life; Wendy MacNaughton illustrator who taught free drawing classes during quarantine40:25 - My challenging transformation during quarantineAbout Sara Fenske Bahat, Chair of Design MBA at CA College of the Arts:Sara Fenske-Bahat grew up in Wisconsin and Texas, lived in New York for many years, and moved to San Francisco a dozen years ago. She’s worked in government, in business, and now at the intersection of design, economics and politics. In New York, she worked for both the city and state governments, helping with the recovery of the city after 9/11 and with regulating banks in the lead-up to the mortgage meltdown. She served as a Coro Leadership Fellow. She was later an executive at Citigroup, and now advises startups working on financial understanding. She’s been teaching economics at CCA (California College of the Arts) for six years, after studying as a Fellow in 2010. She began as Chair in Fall 2019.She’s active in public conversations about civic life (chairs the Board at YBCA, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts) and she contributes actively to her communities. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison (where she learned about the Wisconsin Idea), and the London School of Economics (where she earned a masters in development economics).
