During the cold months, when the days are shorter, it's common for people to feel the "winter blues" or the more intense symptoms of "seasonal affective disorder."

About 5% of people in the United States experience Seasonal Affective Disorder, which can last about 40% of the year.

Symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder include

- feeling down

- irritablity

- oversleeping

- overeating with carb-cravings

- avoiding regular social interactions that were previously enjoyed
